Day 2c - Luxor, Egypt (The Backstreets of Egypt & Luxor Temple)

So... after a long day of the intense heat from the Egyptian sun, our guide offered us two options:
a) Take a horse carriage ride through the heart of Luxor, or
b) [Head back to the hotel and rest?]

This is our result of part a)

The back streets of Jerusalem! (Notice the Egyptian "Lays" Chips?)

Pretty colorful street separators

Kids everywhere love soccer! :)

Seriously, one of the *most* crowded marketplaces I'd ever visited!

All the sellers and hawkers to the tourists were men. Here, all the women congregated...

From here... we left for Luxor Temple (by night!)

This depicts the uniting of Upper and Lower Egypt

This is the mosque built above the Luxor Temple

These are the captured people of the Egyptians. Notice their arms bound behind their backs
The kartouches contain the hieroglyphics with the names of the nations conquered

This was one of the most breath-taking temples I've ever seen!

There was a Christian church built at the back of the Luxor Temple

Our Guide "Bob", explaining the presence of the Christian Church in the Luxor Temple Ruins

These are the provisions that were given to the king of Egypt
(If you click on the picture you can see the record of all that was given)

:D

So that was what... Day 2?

It was time to end and rest because tomorrow, we would climb: Mt. Sinai...
