Day 12b - (Optional) Troy & the Sea of Marmara

So, I thought the tour was over with Pergamum... but I had no idea that the fabled city of Troy was in the same vicinity...

A somewhat "working" model of the Trojan Horse

One of the pathways

The people who found the fabled city of Troy

Article explaining the discovery of Troia

The walls in this portion of Troy were built extremely well...

See... Troy was built and destroyed many times, hence the different layers

This is all that remains of Troy

Here's a small ampitheater...

Seriously, Troy wasn't that exciting. I think the most fun people had was going in and out of the model Trojan horse. :)

In any event, we left Troy and journeyed to Canakkale.
Here are some pictures from the Iris Hotel next to the Sea of Marmara

Across from the Hotel

Baby deer! Almost like the ones in En-Gedi...

Our Hotel overlooked the Sea of Marmara

Recognize what Omar's reading? Isn't this a great place to contemplate?

So I was like...

...maybe we ought to do one last...

...group picture :)

Well, this isn't everyone, but most of us are there :)
Our time on the OT Tour was coming to a close...

Here are a few "outtakes" afterwards :)

Tomorrow we would drive to the place where the Asian section of Turkey connects to the European section of Turkey, and we would arrive in Istanbul.
